Alice Azure
A Mi’kmaq Métis, my roots are in the Kespu’kwitk District of Nova Scotia. The St. Louis Poetry Center, to which I belong, published my prize-winning poems in its annual chapbooks of 2007 and 2008. My first book, In Mi’kmaq Country: Selected Poems and Stories, was released in 2007 by Albatross Press. My recent poems have appeared in Yellow Medicine Review; Whisper n Thunder (an e-magazine); I Was Indian: An Anthology of Native Literature; Visions and Voices: American Indian Activism and the Civil Rights Movement; Many Mountains Moving; Yukhika-latuhse; Mid Rivers Review; and Birthed from Scorched Hearts: Women Respond to War.
